The Measure of Plumb

Alternative Christian rock artist, Plumb, has had a stellar year, to say the least. The raven hair songstress has been a staple in the Contemporary Christian music scene for years, but her latest album, Need You Now, has broken boundaries and is her best selling record to date.

Her single, “Need You Now (How Many Times),” has sold over 300,000 singles on iTunes, and has received over 100,000 radio spins.  The album was met with universal acclaim with positive reviews from all 11 media outlets that reviewed it.  It reached the No. 2 position on the Christian Album Charts.

The album does not come without controversy, as it was originally titled, Faster Than a Bullet. Plumb made the executive decision to change the title, due to the Sandy Hook shootings that took place just before the album’s release.  Yet, all of her successes on the album are long over due. It is the labour of years of hard work that has allowed her to achieve these results.

“I’ve developed my brand. Something that is vital to longevity in music,” said Plumb. “I was never pursued, and therefore took years to develop and make [my brand] concrete.”

Born Tiffany Arbuckle, in Indianapolis, Plumb comes from a close-knit family that was always singing together.

“I have sung since I can remember, starting with a duet in church with my dad when I was 3,” said Plumb.  “I took piano as a child and then again as an adult, played the clarinet for three years in middle school and I always sang in any choir I had the opportunity to sing in.”

Her successes have crossed genres with her breakout hit, “Cut,” topping Billboard’s Dance Charts, and it was used in a pivotal scene in The CW series The Vampire Diaries. Her song, “In My Arms,” was remixed by electronic music heavy hitters like Kaskade, Gomi and Bimbo Jones and reached the No. 3 spot on the Billboard Dance Charts.

Continuing the momentum, Plumb took part in the annual Christian music tour, Winter Jam, which turned out to be one of the best selling tours of the year. She shared the stage with other heavyweight Christian artists like, Colton Dixon, Lecrae, and Tenth Avenue North

When she is not recording or touring, Plumb spends time with her husband, Jeremy Lee, the founder of FlatRock Management and their three children, Solomon, Oliver and Clementine.

“I love watching independent and documentary films with my husband and children,” said Plumb. “Also, trying new foods and restaurants, reading, jogging, shopping and pressure washing, are some of my favourite things to do.”

Since her first record release in 1997 it has been a long road for Plumb. Through her hard work and dedication, she has proved to be a musician that is here to stay. Her inspiration and hope comes from God.

“You have to be willing to do whatever you need to and to work hard,” Plumb said. “At the same time be careful not to orchestrate too much of that on your own. To quote Bono: ‘Stop asking God to bless what you’re doing. Get involved in what God is doing- because it’s already blessed.’”
