Best Restaurants in Mississauga

The restaurants in Mississauga reflect the diversity of the sixth largest city in Canada. In the past, the restaurants of Mississauga have usually been of the chain variety, but lately there has been a boom in locally owned eateries. From Hakka to sushi, to Italian, there are a lot of restaurants to choose from.

Door FiftyFive
A little bit of downtown Toronto in Port Credit, Door FiftyFive is one of the trendiest restaurants in Mississauga right now. The bar is an ode to the dark years of prohibition, showcasing elevated cocktails and Southern inspired comfort food.  The dark wood, barrel table tops, and hanging lights over the bar all of the feel of any bar on the Queen West strip. The menu has a unique flare, showcasing Southern barbecue with traditional Spanish spices.  The main attraction at Door FiftyFive is their whisky tunnel that includes some of the world’s rarest bottles.

Wilcox Gastro Pub
Relatively new, the Wilcox Gastro Pub has a dual personality. It is perhaps one of the more romantic spots in Mississauga but still keeps their elegant pub atmosphere, making it a good choice to watch the game. The menu at Wilcox can be described as elevated pub fare, like their Southern fried chicken and mac and cheese.  This dual personality marries well with their cocktail menu, and their curated wine list.

Chilli Chicken House
A casual spot off of Creditview, the Chilli Chicken House is a popular spot for UTM students nearby. Serving Indian Hakka cuisine, the majority of their menu items are halal friendly. This place is packed on the weekends and with good reason, since all of their food I made fresh in-house. Open seven days a week, Chilli Chicken House is a casual eatery with delicious menu items.

Kravingz
A small restaurant located in the Clarkson Village, Kravingz is best known for their brunch items. The restaurant opened this past December and has been receiving rave reviews from critics and locals alike. Kravingz, owned by husband and wife team, Lissa Genobaga and Damian Kubarski, is a fusion of Filipino and Polish cuisine.  Giving back to the community, Kravingz uses local bakeries and suppliers for ingredients, and make sure everything is made from scratch.

Peter’s on Eglinton
A mainstay for any special occasion, Peter’s on Eglinton has become an institution in Mississauga. Geared towards a mature crowd, their décor of dark wood and stained glass is definitely reminiscent of the seventies, but that is a part of the charm at Peter’s on Eglinton. The menu is filled with comfort food like their popular, and massive, souvlaki dinner, and chicken primavera. There is also a deli that serves up a mean Rueben sandwich.

17 Steakhouse and Bar
17 Steakhouse and Bar is Mississauga’s newest steakhouse. The restaurant opened last summer, when they took over the 32, 000 square foot space that formally housed a banquet hall. The fine dining restaurant serves a traditional steakhouse menu with one exception – their signature dish. Cooked to perfection their signature dish is a US Prime T-Bone topped with seared foie gras. Upstairs at 17 Steakhouse and Bar is used for private events like weddings, conventions and corporate functions and features a giant chandelier that takes up the entire ceiling.
