Jen in The Six: Krusty Burgers Come to The Six

It was a bit serendipitous that when I walked into D-Beatstro on Monday night, Lisa The Vegetarian was playing. One of my personal favourites and definitely a Simpsons classic, it was only fitting that this episode was on as I ordered my Krusty Burger at a vegetarian restaurant.

On Monday night D-Beatstro hosted a Simpson marathon, and served their versions of quintessential Simpsons cuisine – Krusty Burgers, the Ribwich, Homer Donuts and Flaming Moes.  It was a packed house, and it took me about 20 minutes to find a seat.

It took even longer for my Krusty Burger to arrive, but the hour went by pretty quick, probably because I was watching, what many fans have dubbed, The Golden Era episodes of The Simpsons.

The Krusty Burger was pretty true to its animated counterpart. The burger patty, which was made from lentils and seitan, was smothered in 1000 Islands Dressing and placed in between a white bun. The burger was simple, but pretty darn close to the actual Krusty Burger in The Simpsons universe.

I didn’t go for the Flaming Moe not only was it not lit up (probably against fire code) but there wasn't a drop of alcohol in it. This is because D-Beatstro is not licensed. Their version of the Flaming Moe was chili pepper lemonade with a dash of cherry syrup.

There was a great comradery among the patrons at D-Beatstro, the staff was super informative and really friendly considering how crowded they were.

All in all, it was a fun way to spend a Monday night, and who says you don’t make friends with salad?
